Sam has always recognised 'touch' as an integral component of her nursing and midwifery practice. She firmly believes that we all need physical contact that is caring, non-sexual and non-aggressive. Many people feel 'starved' of touch and the comfort and reassurance that it brings. In times of distress or pain, touch is usually the instinctive reaction to help and be helped.
Think of a parents natural instinct when a child is unwell. We place a hand on their head or cuddle a crying baby. We use touch without being aware of it, to 'heal'.
Reiki is just this. It is an extension of 'loving touch'
Sam, a Reiki Master, has added this ancient healing art to her skills and expertise, trained under the guidance of Karen Neuls, Reiki Master/Teacher and a descendent of the Usui/Tibetan Lineage.
Reiki energy allows muscles to relax and increase blood flow to the treated areas, which in turn, quickens the healing process. Clients and practitioners report help with headaches, insomnia, upset stomachs, sprains and other minor conditions. Reiki also promotes psychological healing including the release of anger, fear, worry, sadness and other unhealthy emotions and replaces them with self-worth, confidence and tranquility. It empowers!
Reiki is becoming increasingly popular and is considered a Complimentary Health Care Practice, with over 800 hospitals across the US offering Reiki as a standard part of hospital based care.
If her clients wish, Sam will include Reiki as a part of her Integrative Health Coaching practice.
She also hosts In Person Reiki Training for Health Care Practitioners, helping to bring Reiki practice in Canada in line with that of the US.
